Date: 2016.02.24
Location: Maritim proArte Hotel - Berlin Germany
International Renewable Energy e.V. (IRE) was invited to participate in the event "BEE- New Year's Reception 2016" on February 24th 2016. Mr. Lei Jiang (Secretary-general of IRE) took part in the event as a representative of IRE.
BEE President Fritz Brickwedde welcomed about 1100 guests at the BEE- New Year's Reception 2016 firstly. In his opening speech Mr. Brickwedde referred the success of renewable energies in the electricity sector and the steady fall in production costs. At the same time he urged the federal government to accelerate the energy transformation in order to achieve the climate protection targets of Paris and to create better conditions for the neglected energy sectors.
German federal environment minister Barbara Hendricks said in her speech her thanks for contribution of the German renewable energy branches and pointed “The clear signal from Paris is: decarbonisation. So we need more renewable energy.” For the reform of the current renewable energy laws she said, "The current success stories for electricity production from renewable energies must not obscure the fact that we have to make the right decisions now so that the steady renewable energy expansion is guaranteed in future. That is the main task for the next amendment of the renewable energy laws. Because we know today, we need more renewable power, much more.”
The audiences from the electricity, heat and transport companies have also the same clear statements with a view to a ministerial heat strategy. So the amendment of renewable energy laws, the heat transition with renewable energies and climate-friendly mobility remain the important tasks and BEE will promote the government on the way to more climate protection.
